The main building of the Gdansk University Library is certainly no treasure. It was put in the 1970's in the motel style. However, inside scholars will find more than enough to get their teeth into. Write a letter to the director and you will be able to pore over letters and manuscripts by great Polish writers, as well priceless books by some of the most famous chroniclers of this venerable city.
