Gdansk Fortress

It’s only a fragment of the city of Gdansk, but its history demands attention! For over 100 years the architecture has remained unchanged. Not once, but many times it provided the backdrop for battles between contemporary enemies. In the forts, you will find Gradowa Hill believed to be the location of one of the first fortified cities built somewhere between the 9th and 10th centuries. The site is not only an important landmark in the history of Gdansk, but for the entire country of Poland as well, having witnessed both the good and the bad.

Gdansk Fortress

"This series of fortifications on Gradowa Gora isn't a tourist attraction. It's more of a park, but not the kind of park anyone every goes to. Behind the bus station, the fortifications are a great place to explore, hangout, have a picnic, get wasted, whatever. Bring your camera as there are absolutely great views of the Old Town and Stocznia Gdansk!"
