Head through the red door at ul. Piwna 52 and savour one of the most delightful atmospheres in Old Gdansk. Owner Monika Zieba has created a labour of love here and the results are a pleasure. It's not always the case in Gdansk but Red Door's interior doesn't jar with the splendour of the burgher's house that it has made its home in. Drop by for a coffee, or settle in for a first class lunch or dinner. The Polish menu changes with the seasons, but you can be sure of excellent options from the nearby Baltic, not to mention great service throughout the year. Book ahead to make sure you get that table!

Atmosphere! Atmosphere! Atmosphere! Wonderful place, simply wonderful. One of the reasons why just passing Gdansk, we decided to stay overnight & managed to come there for dinner. One of the places where good food & great wine is just a background to bigger emotion.

We visited Czerwone Drzwi in July 2011. Party of 6 people and everyone's dinner was excellent! Highly will recommend this cozy and delicious restaurant.

We have been in Gdansk two times before. On earlier visits, we found several very fine restaurants (for example Filharmonia and Fellini), and thought, that those were the best in town. However, this time we found "Yesterday" at ul. Piwna 52 (Red door). As being friends of very high quality, we visited that restaurant several times (5) during our visit, and EVERY time everything was just perfect!
Not a single flaw in high quality service, the food was as tasty (and visually perfect) as it can be, and the atmosphere nice, with live piano music (not every night ofcourse)
When searching fine gourmet experiences, the cost is not an issue, but I must mention, that at least this time this superb experience costed about half of what dining would have costed in Fellini or Filharmonia. (2 persons,starters,mains,deserts,bottle of good wine)

To be honest, we also tested a restaurant that our friends suggested... It was the worst ever!!! The bill was bigger than in some of towns best restaurants, and the food/service was worst than we ever have seen before! That restaurant was named EURO, Dluga 79. Never visit that...

For the rest, if you want to eat something different as Katerina, I recommand to go to Filharmonia, the restaurant of the opera. It's quite the opposite of Cerwone drwi: atmosphere is not extraordinary (but, if you eat on the roof terrace, you will have, I suppose, an extraordinary view), but the food is creative and very good! You will have the possibility to try some elements of molecular cooking for a reasonable price.
FILHARMONIA, the good choice for those, who like food... I don't understand, that there are no reviews here about this restaurant, which is certainly the best in town, without knowing the other restaurants but with my experience of central and east Europe, where I am living since 14 years.

Place is nice. But: I commanded some pierogis with veal and mushroom, as they recommanded me, and they brought me pierogis with meet, but it was not veal and there was no mushrooms. They pretended of course that it was veal and that there were mushrooms. Like if you asked for some lobster or crab, and they served you some tuna in can, pretending you that it's lobster... Don't follow theyr recommandations...

Positives: fantastic atmosphere and location. I really loved the decor: cozy and romantic. Negativies: their food is really NOT that good. I wouldn't call it bad, but it really was nothing special. We've had 4 different dishes (2 starters, 2 main) and none of them was something to remember. They were really simple and tasted like home cooked food. Perhaps someone is into that, but I really expect more when I go out for a meal considering that the place is not cheap, reasonable prices for Gdansk though. I'd definitely recommend Red Door for a nice cup of coffee or a glass of wine, as the atmosphere is really the best from what we have experienced in Gdansk.

Very nice atmosphere and piano music. For the apetizer I would recomend the smoked salmon with potatoo pancackes. Good service and reasonable prices.

Not sure why Victor has it in for this restaurant. I've been here a couple of times and always found it first class. Particularly nice in the summer, when you can sit out on the (small) verandah

The worst reaturant in gdansk I have ever visited. Largely overpriced and food sucks.

Outstanding food and relaxed, friendly staff. Carpaccio with parmesan, rocket and capers was just right, and I had a main course of livers which was the tops. The restaurant is right next to the beautiful Mariacki Church, and has a delightful little verandah at the front where you can eat out. Prices were very reasonable for food of this quality. Full marks!
