Perhaps you've already had enough of slippery salmon and crafty cod. If so, you could hardly do better than head for Chlopskie Jadlo (Peasants' Fare). This superman blue affair will take you back to the cosy cottages of yesteryear. Don't expect noodly nouvelle cuisine and suave silver service. On the contrary, dinner begins with a wench dumping a dollop of of lard (smalec) on your table. Next up there'll be hearty soups from the cauldron, then you can really pile on the pounds with dumplings, potato pancakes and plenty of pork. Chlopskie Jadlo has been a runaway suceess in other cities, and it looks likely to go down a treat in Gdansk too.
