Andrzej Wajda, Poland’s renowned film director, has received the honorary Golden Bear, the prestigious award of the International Berlin Film Festival. The Polish filmmaker is honoured for his lifetime achievement in cinema.
Wajda, who already received an Oscar for lifetime achievement in 2000, is known as the coauthor of the Polish film school. He made his debut with “Generation” in 1945 but international acclaim was won with “Canal” and “Ashes and Diamonds”. Wajda is a laureate of many international awards, among them the Golden palm in Cannes in 1981 for “Man of Iron”.
