Gale-force winds pounded Poland on Thursday, killing seven people and leaving a trail of torn power lines, overturned cars and broken trees.
Polish news agencies said winds of 130km/h hit Poland's northern coast and later blew further south.
Emergency services answered 1700 calls for help across the country. In the capital Warsaw, a branch torn from a tree killed a six-month-old baby and injured the mother as they were walking in a park.
Meteorologists said the storm will start to ease on Friday.
