Former president and Solidarity leader Lech Walesa is ready to invite current president Aleksander Kwasniewski to ceremonies marking the 25th anniversary of Solidarity, the first free trade union born in the former communist block.
Walesa, who chairs an honorary committee for the anniversary celebrations, had for years manifested his strong dislike of the leftist president Kwasniewski.
Their reconciliation took place during the funeral of Pope John Paul in the Vatican, when the two men shook hands.
Walesa had previously declined an invitation to travel to Rome in the presidential airplane.
