The Association of Polish Journalists has appealed to their Russian counterparts to respect historical truth. The association has sent a letter to the Russian association in connection with the oncoming 60th anniversary of the end of WWII.
The letter states that Russian media often ignore the fact that Poland was the only country in the anti Nazi coalition which fought from the very beginning of the war to its very end. 'The Russian media,' reads the letter, 'also does not inform that the Ribbentrop Molotov pact sanctioned the fourth partition of Poland.'
Poles were killed by the Nazis and by the Russians and after the Yalta conference Poland lost its sovereignty for 45 years.
The authors of the letter underline that Russian politicians cannot be trusted to respect historical truth, and so journalists should speak the truth. They hold that istory should be known to make it possible to overcome the barriers dividing Poland and Russia.
