Poland’s president Aleksander Kwasniewski has received the French No to the European Constitutional Treaty with regret. He admitted that this spells out serious problems for the whole ratification process but should not hold back European integration and further expansion of the Union.

President Kwasniewski stressed that Poland should adopt a sovereign decision on the manner in which it will ratify the EU constitution and its date. He said he will hold consultations within the next few days with the government and parliament.
