It is likely that by the fall one will be able to fly directly between regional airports at a cost below zl.300 per flight.
These are the foundations of a project being prepared jointly by an undisclosed airline and local government departments. "We will offer flights between cities which are difficult and lengthy to be reached by other means of transport," said Zbigniew Salek, deputy president of the Wroclaw airport and co-founder of the project.
The project would envisage no stop-over in Warsaw and in the long-term would also include connections with foreign cities. "Passengers will be able to fly to German and Czech cities as well as cities of Eastern neighbours," said Salek. Flights will be operated by a mysterious company from abroad with planes equipped with roughly 50 seats. At the same time national carrier LOT is working on connections linking Warsaw with smaller cities.
