A Golden Night!
A star-studded Saturday evening in Gdynia saw Poland's top cinematic talent walk away with a fist-full of Gold! The Golden Lion is the Polish equivalent of the Oscar award, and after a banner year of film, no one could have predicted who would go home with the covetted awards and who would have to wait until next years festival.
As the night went on, the tension rose, as eager fans waited to see who would lay claim to the award for Best Film. While the audience got behind Dorota Kedzierzawska's 'Here I Am,' the award was eventually given to Felks Falk for the film 'Debt Collector.'
Also taking home some precious metals were Nikita Michalkov for 'Persona Non Grata' and Andrzej Wajda, who was given the Lifetime Achievement award.
Without trying to sound too cliche, the real winner was Polish Film, an enterprise and industry that gets stronger every year. The variety and quality of this year's entries was astounding and everyone who made it to Gdynia for the festival was treated to some genuine artistic vision.
Congratulations to this years winners and best of luck to those who are still striving to take home the glory!
