The Bid for Gdansk!
This Saturday, Gdansk became a political Dodge City as the two frontrunners for Poland's Presidency set their sites on Tri-City voters.
Lech Kaczynski of, the Law and Justice Party, met his supporters at the famous Olivia Sports Hall, where the first Solidarity Congress had been held 25 years ago. His main opponent and current leader at the polls, Donald Tusk of the Civic Platform, welcomed supporters at the Arthus Court on Gdansk's Royal Way.
There was certianly quite a crowd at the Arthus Court, however it may have been due to a large and very obvious media presence. The TV crews and their cool trucks with the satallite dishes on top, were out in force!
The setting certainly favored Tusk, a Gdansk native, and he is excepted to win a large percentage of votes here in the Tri-City. As both candidates head for the home stretch, the race appears to be getting closer and closer. I thought that without the Yankess and Red Sox, October would be boring, but I was wrong!
