Rudzinska Rolls On!
University of Akron cross country standout Beata Rudzinska (Ilawa, Poland-University of Gdansk) was named the Mid-American Conference Runner of the Week for women's cross country as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Rudzinska earned her second MAC Runner of the Week honor this season after placing 12th at the Notre Dame Invitational in a race boasting nine teams with a top-30 ranking. Her time of 17:20 on the 5,000-meter course was 1:13 faster than her winning time three weeks ago at the Tommy Evans Invitational.
"This week was different from last week as we were running with top teams and top runners in the country," women's head coach Scott Jones said. "She was able to run a good race and handle the pressure very well. She is running with expectations of being successful and she should continue to improve. Overall, she is just an overall good runner at any distance and we are lucky to have her."
In just five races in her cross country career, Rudzinska has posted four top-30 finishes and one victory. She is the only UA runner, male or female, to earn MAC cross country runner of the week honors following consecutive races.
