The European Union commissioner for Media and Information, Viviane Reding, received the highest Polish distinction in culture this week, the prestigious Gloria Artis medal.
The medal was presented to her by Polish Cultural minister Waldemar Dabrowski in Strasbourg on Tuesday. Viviane Reding, of Luxembourg, has been responsible for culture in the European Commission for many years.
"In the pre-accession phase, Viviane Reding was always active and well-meaning for Poland, in building new spaces, chances for culture," Dabrowski stressed.
Allies such as Mrs Reding have helped to make Poland known world wide as a place for culture and tourism. Tourism in Poland is growing by leaps and bounds, with Cracow alone experiencing a 30% increase in tourism from last year. |
